Professor Witosky first speaker for 2016 senior business seminar

Professor of Business Administration and Accounting and Department Chair Gary Witosky, C.P.A., C.G.M.A., M.Acc. ’79 started the senior business seminar for Professor David Miller, M.B.A. ’61 on Jan. 13. Witosky spoke to the students about six key factors that make for a successful professional and personal life.

“I will be starting at a large firm myself in October, and I have had constant concerns about how well I will do there. I think I have had an excellent education at Thiel College, but it is very intimidating to be working with people that come from large state schools. However, Professor Witosky’s speech, without a doubt gave me more confidence to start work come October.” – Courtney Gibson ’16

“The dinner was very enjoyable. I was amazed at the amount of guidelines that need to be followed when practicing proper meal etiquette. However, now that I know what is expected, I’m confident I will leave a great impression if and when I attend a formal business dinner.” – Josh Doody ’16

“I really enjoyed hearing about his six keys to success: perform with passion; do not settle; get ‘grit;’ know yourself; have/be a hero or mentor; and service to others. Professor Witosky showed a TED Talk video on grit, and I think that is what really boosted his presentation to the next level. I had no idea what grit was, but I do believe I have it now that I have been introduced to it. Professor Witosky finished with saying that if you follow through with all six of those keys to success, you will have luck and you will be successful in your life/career.” – Kristi Guritza ’16

“It was truly an honor to hear Professor Witosky share his experiences and lend the class much-needed advice when entering the workplace. I will apply the lessons learned from his eye-opening lecture to the workplace.” – Garret Schweitzer ’16
