Thiel College announces the addition of Assistant Professor of Psychology Kristel Gallagher, Ph.D. Gallagher most recently was an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Keystone College in northeastern Pennsylvania.

Classes for the 2015-16 academic year began Monday.
Prior to the start of classes, first-year students were welcomed at the annual Opening Convocation and Matriculation ceremony Aug. 21 in the William A. Passavant Center. President Troy D. VanAken,Ph.D., hosted the ceremony and joined faculty and staff in welcoming new students as well as their parents, family and friends. Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the College Lynn Franken, Ph.D., Vice President of Student Life Mike McKinney, M.S.Ed., ’02 and Kelsey Schneider ’16 also addressed the students. As part of the exercises students marched on Brother Martin's Walk. The only other time they will make that walk with their class will be during Commencement.

The schedule for the 2015-16 Thiel Forums has been set and will feature faculty and students discussing a wide range of topics from finding mutant E.coli, to bagpipes, to neuroscience explorations of scent-based attraction. The discussions will also cover other research projects, international travel experiences and sabbatical endeavors.
The first Thiel Forum is from 4-5 p.m. Sept. 17. It will feature students discussing research regarding learning styles in reference to Thiel College’s Supplemental Instruction Program, their summer travel abroad experiences and creative writing.
The Thiel Forums are held monthly on select Thursdays throughout the academic year in the Stamm Lecture Hall in the James Pedas Communication Center. They provide faculty, students and staff an opportunity to share projects or publications and to discuss their work.
