Assistant Professor of Business Administration and Accounting Karen Shaffer, M.B.A., and high school students (left to right) Tyler Saxton, James Bianco and Katie Hightree work on the public service announcement (PSA) they are producing as part of the inaugural summer media camp.
The PSA being produced during the week-long media camp, which began Monday, will premiere Friday at noon in the Stamm Lecture Hall in the James Pedas Communication Center. The campus community is invited to watch the 60-second radio and television spots the three students from area high schools produced in conjunction with Thiel College student Trent Keisling '16 and Media Production Engineer Mike McElroy.
Employees and guests were treated to a free picnic on the Howard Miller Student Center terrace and lawn on Wednesday afternoon.
It has been a busy summer of renovation and remodeling work on campus. Here is a quick glance at some of the notable projects:
The Rev. Jayne Thompson, admissions counselor Victoria Pless, Joshua Kenst ’18 and Cole Smith ’18 are in Detroit to represent Thiel College at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America’s triennial Youth Gathering, “RiseUp Together.” The event begins today and continues through the weekend.
Melissa Allen ’18, Cheryl Marshall ’14, Sam Sesti ’18 and Jamie Ulrich ’18 will also be at the event, serving in other capacities.
About 30,000 teenagers along with their adult advisors will converge on Detroit for worship, leadership education and service projects in the city. It is the largest youth gathering of its kind in the world.
The Thiel College team will be joining others from the 26 ELCA colleges and universities and assisting in the morning blessing services for the work teams and working the large interaction center in the afternoons. They will be meeting teens and talking about vocation and college choices after graduation. Please keep them in your prayers as they travel.
