Thiel Happenings

Impending Pedas completion highlights summer work

The James Pedas Communication Center is on track for a completion date of Aug. 1. The punch list walk-through for the interior and exterior of the building was completed July 1. Thiel College is working with local officials to get the Certificate of Occupancy. Landscaping is underway and depending upon weather should be completed within the next two weeks.

The James Pedas Communication Center will be dedicated during Homecoming Oct. 4. The theme for this year's homecoming celebration is 'Discover the Difference.'

Several other projects are on schedule and should be completed this month:

Locker Rooms

  • A wall was added to the women's locker room area to create two locker rooms.
  • New lockers will be installed along with new flooring and lighting.
  • The existing women’s varsity locker room is getting painted and new lights are being added.
  • The men’s varsity locker room renovation includes the replacement of wooden lockers, new flooring and lighting.

Fitness Center

A check in area and second set of doors will provide better security to the fitness center. The project includes a new storage area, check in/monitoring area and a second set of doors to control outdoor air entering the fitness area.

Academic Records Office

The upgrades to the Records Office on the first floor of Roth Hall are moving forward with a projected completion date within the next two weeks.

The renovation included the removal of existing wood paneling, installation of drywall and replacement of existing lighting, electrical outlets, data drops, ceilings, flooring and furniture.  The design will be similar to the renovations done to the other offices on the first floor last summer.
