Thiel College’s Blue-Gold Club hosts annual spring golf outing

The Thiel College athletic department kicked off Memorial Day weekend with its annual Blue-Gold Golf Outing at the Greens of Greenville on Friday, May 23.

Thiel College announces initiative to endow chair in name and honor of David Miller

Thiel College President Troy D. VanAken recently announced the launch of a new initiative to raise $1 million to endow an academic chair in name and in honor of David Miller, professor of economics and business administration and Norman P. Mortensen Chair of Economics.

One-day fundraising effort sets record for Thiel College giving

Wednesday, May 21 was a record-breaking day in the history of Thiel College. During the Thiel Fund Challenge, Thiel's 2:1 match day on May 21, alumni, parents, friends, faculty, staff and students rallied in just 24 hours to raise $51,975 demonstrating their belief in the Thiel Commitment.

Professor Miller makes UN connection

On Friday, May 16, Prof. David Miller and his wife, Ruth, were invited by their friend, Dr. Jagdish Sheth, Kellstadt Professor of Marketing at Emory University and a recent commencement speaker at Thiel College, to attend a private reception for Samantha Power, the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations.

This event was sponsored by the World Affairs Council of Atlanta. Ambassador Power gave a 15-minute presentation to a group of 50 individuals on her view of the world and the policies of the Obama Administration in dealing with the major issues facing the United States. During the 90-minute reception Prof. and Mrs. Miller were introduced and spoke with a number of those present including: David Abney, COO of UPS; Johnny Isakson, U.S. Senator from Georgia; Ajit Kuimar, Consul General of India Atlanta; Sam Olens, Attorney General of Georgia; Dennis Lockhart, President of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta; Dr. Helene Gayle, President of CARE USA; and last, but far from least, Andrea Young, daughter of Andrew Young, who was the United Nations Ambassador during the President Jimmy Carter Administration.

Prof. Miller said the reception was "truly a networking experience of a lifetime."

Tuesdays at Thiel
June 10

Tuesdays at Thiel are a great summertime tradition. Tour campus with a current student, learn about academics and activities and enjoy lunch on the Great Lawn. This summer, put Thiel College on the map as you plan your summer vacation.

Annual Art Auction
July 3, 6 p.m.

Sans MOCO Gallery is hosting its third annual art auction to kickoff Heritage Days. Proceeds from the auction will be used to offset the costs of a new roof and air conditioning system at the gallery Tickets for the auction are $20 per person and $30 per couple. Any artist who donates a piece of artwork to the auction gets two free tickets. Tickets are available at Fresh Grounds Coffeehouse, 172 Main Str., Greenville.

United Way Wing King Cook-off
Thursday, June 19, 5 p.m. 

The United Way of Mercer County's 7th Annual Wing King Cook-off at the Quaker Steak and Lube on is Thursday, June 19 from 5-8:30 PM.  Advance tickets are available for $20 each with tickets at the door for $25. For tickets email Douglas Hazlett at dhazlett@thiel.edu or call 589-2081.

Pink Angels Golf Scramble
Thursday, June 19

The Pink Angels Golf Scramble is raising funds for to fight breast cancer. All proceeds benefit local men and women. Deadline for entry is Wednesday. There is a women’s scramble at 7:30 a.m. and a men’s scramble at 12:30 p.m. Cost per team is $220. For the women’s event team fee covers coffee, muffins, greens fees, cart, lunch and prizes. For the men’s event team fee covers greens fees, cart and dinner. Mail check and team lineup to Pink Angels; c/o 6 Tanglewood Drive, Greenville, PA 16125.
