2007-2008 Resident Assistant Application/Selection Process Thank you for showing interest in serving as a Resident Assistant (RA) for Thiel College. The Resident Assistant position is a very demanding, yet rewarding opportunity for our students to serve the college community. This position is extremely valuable to the other residents living within our buildings and the faculty and staff working with your peers. It takes a very commited and dedicated leader to serve in this capacity. The application/selection process is a three phase experience. In order to participate in the application/selection process all interested students should print off the application and reference forms from the links found at the bottom of this page. Each candidate must complete and submit a written application along with a faculty, staff, and RA reference. All applications should be turned into Mike McKinney in the Office of Student Engagement and Success by Friday, February 16, 2007. Likewise, all references should be completed and submitted by Monday, March 12, 2007. During phase one the applicant will participate in a group interview with other candidates. During this interview the candidates will be asked several questions related to the RA position and participate in a few group exercises. The group interviews will take place Thursday, February 22, 2007. To sign up for a group interview please just stop in the Office of Student Engagement and Success. Phase two consists of a three separate classes including and explanation and training on the Resident Assistant's duties and expectations. The classes will be held for three consecutive weeks. We will hold two classes a week. One class will take place on Wednesdays at 9:00pm, and the other class for that week will take place the following Sunday at 8:00pm. Each candidate will need to sign up to attend either Wednesday or Sunday sessions in the Office of Student Engagement and Success on or before Tuesday, March 13, 2007. The first sessions will take place Wednesday, March 14th at 9:00pm and Sunday, March 18th at 8:00pm. Finally, phase three consists of the individual interview. During the three week time period that the class sessions will take place, each candidate will schedule an individual interview with Mike McKinney, Director of Residence Life. The individual interview will include one candidate and multiple staff members. Each candidate must have at least scheduled his or her interview with Mike McKinney on or before Wednesday, March 21, 2007.
