Current Students > Division of Student Life > Residence Life & Housing > Break Periods
Thiel College has designated several time periods throughout the academic year to serve as Break Periods. During these periods of time all residence halls and housing facilities will be closed. Only students that have been granted approval from the Department of Residence Life and/or the Division of Student Life will be allowed to stay on campus during these times. Any student wishing to stay should fill out the following form Break Request Form. Closing Procedures for each break and at the end of each semester will be sent to students, are listed in the Student Handbook, and will be posted throughout the housing facilities. For the safety of your possessions and to prevent damage assessments, all students are required to follow these guidelines during a break period:
Residence Life Staff will remain on campus until all residents on the wing or floor have departed for break. They will check all rooms and see that the residents have not overlooked any of the preceding items. Students who fail to follow closing procedures will be subject to disciplinary action. Liability: The College assumes no responsibility for damages and/or loss of personal property due to theft, fire, destruction, acts of God, etc., whether such losses occur in your room, storage or public areas. Students are advised to check with their parents regarding their homeowner's policy. Students are encouraged to purchase renter's insurance. Please visit www.nssinc.com for affordable Theft, Fire, & Accident Insurance. Shuttle Service for Breaks: During academic breaks, Thiel offers a shuttle service for a fee to and from the Pittsburgh Airport and downtown Pittsburgh bus/train station. For information about making a reservation, please contact the Student Life Office at ext. 2125.
