A Message from the Dean
Dear Thiel Parents,
There certainly hasn't been a lack of news and events to share with you since our last issue of the newsletter. In just a matter of three weeks we celebrated Halloween in Thiel's grand style; President VanAken announced the largest gift in the institution's 145-year history (for more information, visit www.thiel.edu/dietrich); we recognized the academic achievements of many of your sons and daughters at our Honors Convocation; and we enjoyed the company of many of you over Family Weekend. Needless to say, things have been very busy in sunny Greenville, Pennsylvania.
Now that we have had several days to get back into the "normal" routine of campus life, I can't help but realize that there isn't much time left this semester. In just a few short weeks, the students will head home to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday. Then it won't be long before they are completing final exams and traveling back home for winter break. Most of them have even registered for Spring classes already.
Since this will likely be last the newsletter before the holiday (that is unless someone else makes a 25 million dollar gift or something of the like), I want to take this opportunity to express my sincerest appreciation to all of you. This year I have many things that I can reflect upon and express my thanks for at the Thanksgiving dinner table with family. However, I can immediately identify more than 1,100 reasons to give thanks without any reflection necessary.
Even more than having the privilege of being here at a time we received the very generous and impactful gift from the late William S. Dietrich II, I am most thankful for the opportunity to work with your sons and daughters. It is our students that make our jobs so enjoyable, that will go out into the world and accomplish great things, and that teach us so much while we help them to learn, grow, and succeed. They make Thiel such a fun and special place to be, and for that, we are all truly thankful. So on behalf of the College, I want to THANK YOU all for sharing them with us!
I hope you all have a very happy Thanksgiving, and I hope many of you are able to join us for one last visit to campus this semester to attend the Dome Opening event on December 9th.
Best Wishes!

Registration for Spring Classes
By now our students have all had the opportunity to register for their Spring 2012 courses. During registration period, students are expected meet with their academic advisor and then register online.
Please make it a point to ask your son or daughter what classes they have scheduled for next semester. If you find they have not registered or are having trouble registering, please encourage them to contact their advisor or visit the Academic Records Office. We can help them through the process if they are experiencing difficulty.
Celebrating Academic Excellence
I want to congratulate all of the students recognized at Honors Convocation last week! We are very proud of their efforts in the classroom, and we were delighted to celebrate that success with them. Please see click on the following link for a full listing of those recognized.
