Each summer since 2006, Thiel has continued to add more on-line courses as a convenience to our students who return home, but would prefer to continue their studies at Thiel College. Presently, all technology-based courses are asynchronous, which means that they are completely on-line with no designated class meeting time. Students gain access to learning materials by signing on to the Blackboard learning management system, which is accessible from the College's website. During summer 2010, Thiel offered 17 on-line courses including studies in the areas of communication, computer science, history, marketing, advertising, accounting, mass media and neuroscience. Fees for On-Line Courses Part-time summer student fees apply to on-line courses. Thiel does not charge special fees for courses taken on-line. In the summer of 2011, the tuition fee for students enrolling in 1 - 11 credits will be $735/credit. Student Requirements - Thiel On-Line Success Program Each student who enrolls in an on-line course at Thiel College must complete a half-hour-long, on-line preparatory program prior to beginning their first on-line course. This is required regardless of whether or not the student has taken on-line courses at another institution. Students are systematically enrolled in Thiel On-Line Success once they enroll in a summer on-line course. This preparatory course must be completed with a passing score prior to proceeding with an on-line, for-credit course. |
