Network Administrator

The Thiel College Information Technology Department invites qualified applicants for the position of Network Administrator.

The Network Administrator will:

  • Maintain, evaluate and update the computer network (wired and wireless);
  • Manage the server infrastructure;
  • Create and maintain user accounts in all campus systems, including appropriate permissions and security;
  • Maintain the Internet connection and related services (Web, email, DNS, etc.);
  • Maintain and troubleshoot the computer network, servers, telephone or other critical IT infrastructure;
  • Manage vendor relationships;
  • Regularly evaluate network security and make enhancements as needed.

Bachelor’s or higher degree in information systems or other technology related area preferred; equivalent experience considered. Knowledge of routers, switches, Internet protocols, networking and server administration required; two or more years’ experience in network or server administration, including security appliances, MS Windows Server, Active Directory, MS Exchange, DNS, DHCP, IP networking and VoIP phone systems preferred.  Knowledge and experience with server virtualization, cloud computing, and advanced network security are highly desired.

Candidate must have a strong commitment to serving in an academic environment with a demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively, with the highest degree of trustworthiness and integrity.  Candidate must be able to multi-task and maintain confidentiality.  Excellent communication, organization, and decision-making skills are required.  Occasional weekend or on-call hours may be required.
