The Thiel College Psychology Department invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Psychology to begin August, 2014. Our departmental mission is to (1) meet the needs of students preparing for careers in human services, social work, education, and other fields for which a background in psychology is necessary or desirable, (2) prepare students to continue their education at the graduate level, either in psychology or a related discipline, and (3) meet the needs of students pursuing a liberal arts education.
Our ideal applicant will have experience working in or consulting with behavioral health. Candidates should have a doctorate in Psychology or a relevant field awarded before August, 2014 (although ABD will be considered), with a primary emphasis in counseling and a secondary interest in health Psychology.
The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable regarding current findings, theoretical approaches and research strategies in the field, and will teach courses in Introductory Psychology, Counseling Methods, Abnormal Behavior, and Applied Psychology. The candidate will also have the opportunity to develop courses related to behavioral health, as well as courses in the candidate’s area of expertise. As a liberal arts institution, Thiel College emphasizes high quality teaching, including mentorship with individual students in research, internship/co-op supervision, and career development.
Faculty participate in professional activities at the individual, departmental, institutional and community levels by remaining current in subject matter areas and instruction techniques, participating in curriculum development and in the review and assessment of programs and courses, and serving in campus governance and faculty organizations.
