GREENVILLE, Pa.—Thiel College announces its second annual college-wide Student Research Symposium is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 18 in the new James Pedas Communication Center.

In its second year, the symposium moves to the new Pedas Center.

The symposium is designed as an academic forum where students from a variety of disciplines have the opportunity to present the results of their research efforts. Students from biology, English, history, neuroscience, and the Dietrich Honors Institute will be presenting oral presentations and visual exhibits.

“When students are inspired and equipped to delve deeply into a topic they have chosen and then synthesize this research into public presentations for their peers, faculty mentors, and friends of the College, we rightly celebrate these achievements as milestones of intellectual maturity,” Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the College Lynn Franken, Ph.D., said. “We see and hear evidence that teaching and learning at Thiel College are transformational experiences for all concerned.”

The event is scheduled to include more than 40 presentations.

“This is an opportunity for students to show what they have been working on,” Assistant Professor of Biology Delbert Abi Abdallah, Ph.D., said. “It can make the difference for them to be able to be accepted into a strong graduate program.”

The public is invited to take part in the symposium.
