GREENVILLE, Pa.—Thiel College’s annual Spring into Action event is expanding to cover several locations over five days. Last year’s day of service and volunteering included students cleaning up Riverside Park and Main Street.

Director of Student Activities Than Oo expects more than 100 students to volunteer during the nine scheduled activities from April 10-14 at various locations in and around the Greenville community.

Students will clean Riverside Park and sweep Main Street on April 10. Volunteers will also be donating time for the Community Food Warehouse of Mercer County, St. Paul’s continuing care community and the Knights of Columbus. A bone marrow registration event will be held at Thiel College on April 13. Students will also lend a hand at all-day campus cleanup on April 14.

Oo said he has pledges from about 50 percent of the 250 students who belong to campus Greek organizations to work during the event. Students from other clubs and organizations, as well as the general student body, are expected to participate, he said.

“We expanded Spring into Action from one day to multiple days this year to offer more opportunities for our students to serve the local community,” Oo said. “Spring into Action always receives a great deal of support from our sorority and fraternity community. By adding more volunteer options, we are hopeful to have other student organizations or individuals participate.”
