GREENVILLE, Pa.—Thiel College radio station WXTC is hosting local and touring musicians to raise money for the station and the VH1 Save The Music Foundation.

Joe Deninzon & Stratospheerius, John Ford of the Strawbs and Ian Lloyd’s Stories will share the stage at the Lutheran Heritage Room in the Howard Miller Student Center on Saturday, Feb. 27. Other acts appearing include Nevada Color, 2nd Avenue Band, DeMarra Underwood and Turnpike Gardens. Thiel College students Asia Wallace ’16, performing as Young A, and Jayvon Braxton ’18, performing as Jay Lamont, will also take the stage. Performances start at 4:30 p.m.

The Office of Student Life, Department of Communication and James Pedas Communication Center are key sponsors of the event.

“This is a way for Thiel College students to get involved,” said Mercedez Quarles ’17, WXTC’s promotional manager. “The local performers are crowd favorites when they play at Thiel College, so what a great way to show our appreciation by bringing them back to perform and support this worthy cause.”

The event is free for Thiel College students. A $10 donation at the door is suggested for members of the public.

“While I’m directing and advising WXTC’s staff—this was their idea, and they are doing most of the work to make it happen. It’s a great opportunity for WXTC’s students to learn how an event like this is organized and pulled off,” said Peg Watts, M.A., adjunct professor of communication and managing adviser for WXTC. “Students chose the acts and have to help with talent contracts, public relations and promotions, setup, and all the large and small details that surround a music festival or any larger event.”
