Johnson and McFetridge named April Students of the Month

GREENVILLE, Pa.—Thiel College announces seniors Ashley Johnson ’16, of Perry, Ga. and Daniel McFetridge ’16, of Espyville, Pa., are April’s Students of the Month.

Johnson, a 2008 graduate of Perry High School, is a secondary education/English major. Following graduation, she plans to attend graduate school and earn a master’s in library science. She is the editor of Thiel College’s literary magazine, The Phoenix. Johnson is a member of Kappa Delta Pi, International Honor Society in Education. She also belongs to Sigma Tau Delta international English honor society and VAQ humanities research honor society.

Her parents, Linda Robinson and Charles Mauldin, live in Hawkinsville, Ga. She is married to Jared Johnson, Ph.D., of Hadley, Pa.

McFetridge, a 2012 graduate of Linesville High School, is a computer science and web design major.  After graduation, he plans to work for Wesex Corporation, in West Middlesex, Pa. and attend graduate school. He is currently a peer tutor and note taker for computer science and math classes.

McFetridge is the president and academic chair of Phi Theta Phi fraternity and president of Kappa Mu Epsilon national mathematics honorary. He is a member of The National Society of Leadership and Success and Order of Omega Greek leadership honorary society. Last summer, he traveled to London and Paris with Thiel College faculty and students and participated in Carnegie Mellon University’s IT Lab Program.

He is the son of Kevin McFetridge and grandson of Daniel and Peggy McFetridge, all of Espyville, Pa.
