Bump, Massengill honored as May Students of the Month

GREENVILLE, Pa.—Thiel College announces Alexis Bump (left, above), of Meadville, Pa., and Danielle Massengill, of North Bend, Wash., as students of the month for May 2015.

Bump graduated in May with degrees in psychology and sociology, and a 4.0 accumulative GPA. She was one of the six class valedictorians and received Dean’s List recognition all eight semesters. Bump was a member of Alpha Chi honor society, Lambda Sigma honor society and Psi Chi honor society. Additionally, she was a member of the Psychology Club, Student Government Association (SGA), the Thiel Student Support Network (TSSN), and was a Peer/Peer Assisted Learning leader. During her time at Thiel College, Bump participated in United Hearts service organization and several other service projects in Greenville and the surrounding communities. She was also a student assistant in the psychology department and held an internship at St. Paul’s in their Life Enrichment Department. She plans to attend graduate school in 2016.

Bump, a 2011 graduate of Meadville Area Senior High School, is the daughter of Daniel and Arlene Bump, of Meadville.

Massengill graduated in May with a 4.0 accumulative GPA and was also a valedictorian. She earned degrees in criminal justice, sociology, and psychology. She received Dean’s List recognition seven semesters. Massengill was a member of Alpha Chi honor society, Sigma Alpha Pi National Society of Leadership and Success, Psi Chi honor society and Lambda Sigma honor society. Additionally, she was a member of the Equestrian Club and the softball team. She also volunteered in the Greenville community at Stray Haven Animal Shelter. She is pursuing graduate assistantship positions where she can study for her master’s degree and coach softball. Massengill serves her country as an airman in the United States Air Force Reserve.

Massengill, a 2011 graduate of Mount Si High School in Snoqualmie, Wash., is the daughter of Scott and Jill Massengill, of North Bend.

The Student of the Month is among the most prestigious academic awards Thiel College grants each year.
