GREENVILLE, Pa.—Three Thiel College alumnae participated in research presentations at the 39th Annual Neurobehavioral Teratology Society meeting held in Montreal from June 27 to July 1.

Shayla Percy ’15 (pictured with presentation, above), a valedictorian from this year’s graduating class, and Michelle Blose ’12 (photo inset, above) first-authored research poster presentations, and Assistant Professor of Psychology Laura R.G. Pickens, Ph.D., ’06 served as second author on both presentations.

Percy’s presentation was entitled “The Impact of Enrichment on Spatial Memory in Long Evans Rats Exposed to Ethanol.”

“Her research would not have been possible without the generous donation from Dr. Carl Hoffman ’65, H’10 for the purchase of specialized animal video tracking software and equipment,” Pickens said.

Percy starts medical school in the fall at the Medical College of Wisconsin (Milwaukee, Wisc.).

Blose’s presentation was entitled “The Effect of Adolescent Nicotine Exposure on Morris Water Maze Spatial Learning and Retention in the Adult Male Long-Evans Rat: A Pilot Study.” Blose could not attend the conference, but Pickens presented on her behalf.
