Thiel College Names Chief of Police

GREENVILLE, Pa.-- Thiel College welcomed Chief Eric Allen as chief of police/director of public safety, a position he assumed on Nov. 1. Allen comes to Thiel College from the Koppel Borough Police Department in Koppel, Pa., where he served as assistant chief of police. He has more than a decade of experience in policing, including work at both Carlow University, where he served as detective, and Penn State McKeesport.

As chief of police/director of public safety, Allen is responsible for providing a safe and secure environment for students, employees and visitors of the College; ensuring the safety and security of all College buildings, facilities and property; responsibility for emergency management plans and activities; and oversight and direction of fleet vehicle and shuttle service.

Allen attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania and graduated from the IUP Police Academy. He also is a certified taser instructor and holds investigation certificates in homicide, crime scene, domestic violence and undercover narcotics, among others.
