GREENVILLE, Pa.-- Trent Keisling, a junior communication major at Thiel College, made a commitment to the college by staying on campus this summer and it paid off for both in an unexpected way.

Keisling, 21, an Englewood, Fla. native, stayed on campus this summer to work in the Office of Admission, but also contributed by producing a record-breaking promotional video.

“Discover the Difference”, which has generated over 2,000 views on YouTube, highlights big changes taking place on campus and in the classroom. Keisling played multiple roles: videography, voiceover and editing.

The 2:45 minute video profiles changes to the core curriculum, the newly opened $6.5 million James Pedas Communication Center, and other campus improvements. The video also highlights Homecoming weekend (Oct. 3-5) and its theme “Discover the Difference.”

“This experience made my summer,” Keisling said. “Everyone on campus went above and beyond to produce a quality in-house video that showcases the Thiel Commitment. This hands-on experience will be a valuable asset going forward.”

“This video highlights how successful Thiel’s commitment to new media can be in reaching a digitally-engaged audience,” Associate Director of Web Development Jonathan Shearer said. “In less than a month, this video has surpassed expectations and stands as the most-watched in college history.”

Assistant Director of Public Relations Dominick DiRienzo said Keisling’s involvement was a vital part of the video’s completion.

“Trent brought a fresh eye and enthusiasm to the project. It’s a great example of the commitment our students have to Thiel College. We look forward to partnering with more students in the future, especially with the opening of the James Pedas Communication Center.”

The Office of Communication and Marketing led the cross-collaborative effort. Dr. Victor Evans, communication professor – a former entertainment journalist for Entertainment Weekly, People, US, MTV, Guest Informant and BET – assisted in the video’s production.
