GREENVILLE, Pa.—Josh Fleming has been named the head coach of the Thiel College women’s tennis team, as announced by Director of Athletics Jack Leipheimer ‘74.
“We are happy to welcome Josh Fleming to Thiel College,” Leipheimer said. “He brings a wealth of coaching experience to our women’s tennis program, and we look forward to seeing the team progress under his direction.”
A graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Fleming is a mathematics teacher at Reynolds High School, a position he has held since 2012.
Fleming currently serves as head coach of the Kennedy Catholic boy’s varsity tennis team. He was also the assistant varsity tennis coach for Hickory High School in 2006.
The past president of the Shenango Valley Tennis Club (2009), Fleming currently serves as the organization’s vice president. Fleming was also an instructor with the City of Hermitage Summer Recreation Tennis Program for five years.
Thiel’s women’s tennis team went 3-8 overall and 2-7 in Presidents’ Athletic Conference play in 2013.
“I am very excited for a chance to coach tennis at the college level, and I cannot wait for the season to get started,” Fleming said. “During this tennis season, we would like to focus on improving our skills; individually, for each player, and as a team.”
Rianne Thornton, a 2012 Thiel alumna, will assist Fleming. Thornton is entering her second season as assistant women’s basketball coach at her alma mater and her first as assistant women’s tennis coach.
