Andrews Receives Honorary Doctor of Humanities

GREENVILLE, Pa.—President, CEO and CFO of Washington Tool & Machine Company, David R. Andrews ‘63, received an honorary doctor of humanities degree at the Thiel College Honors Convocation on Nov. 8 in Greenville, Pa.

He joined Washington Tool and Machine Company in 1985 and has held the position of President, CEO and CFO since 1999. After graduating from Thiel College with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, he became a staff accountant, senior accountant and audit manager at Price Waterhouse; the assistant controller at Jones & Laughlin Steel; the vice president for finance and then president and CEO at Mesta Machine Co. He holds professional membership in the American and Pennsylvania Institutes of Certified Public Accountants and is a Certified Public Accountant in West Virginia and Pennsylvania.

Andrews graduated from Thiel College in 1963 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. His service and dedication to his alma mater includes membership on the Alumni Board, service as a past president of the College’s Alumni Association (14 years) and membership on Thiel Board of Trustees – a role he was committed to from 1983 to 1999 and again from 2000 to 2012. He served as the Board treasurer and also was the chair of the Finance and Investment Committee. In 2010, Andrews and his wife, Mary Jo – who met as students at Thiel College – were presented with the Distinguished Service to Thiel Alumni Award.

Andrews has served his community in a number of civic, professional and community associations including the Washington County Chamber of Commerce, The Washington Hospital and Washington Federal Savings Bank, to name a few.
