Five Earn Valedictorian and Salutatorian Honors at Thiel College’s 137th Commencement Ceremony

Valedictorians and Salutatorians

Madison Chylik, Katelyn Exler, Bethany Lee Prentice and Jacqlyn Belsito.

GREENVILLE, PA – Five members of the Thiel College Class of 2011 earned valedictorian and salutatorian honors at the 137th Commencement Ceremony, which was held on May 8 at 2 p.m. in the College’s William A. Passavant Memorial Center.

Four students with perfect 4.0 grade point averages—Madison Chylik of Cleveland, Ohio, Katelyn Exler of Glenshaw, Pa., Bethany Lee Prentice of New Wilmington, Pa., and Mark Eugene Wyant of Transfer, Pa.—earned valedictorian honors for 2011 and one student—Jacqlyn Ann Belsito of Bedford, Ohio —was named salutatorian.

Chylik graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree and departmental honors in elementary education. She also earned the Dean’s Key. She is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Leonard C. Chylik.

Exler graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication sciences and disorders. She earned the Dean’s Key and departmental honors.  She is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. John Exler.

Prentice graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology and departmental honors. She also was awarded the Dean’s Key. She is the daughter of Ms. Martha Martin.

Wyant graduated summa cum laude and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and secondary education certification. He received the Dean’s Key as well as departmental honors in history and education.

Belsito graduated summa cum laude with a 3.97 grade point average and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in accounting and business administration with departmental honors. She also was  a recipient of the Dean’s Key. She is the daughter of Ms. Rosemary T. Belsito.

Students who received the honor of summa cum laude graduated with a GPA of 3.8 - 4.0; students who received the honor of magna cum laude graduated with a GPA of 3.60-3.79; and students who received the honor of cum laude graduated with a GPA of 3.4-3.59. The Dean’s Key is awarded to those students who made the Dean's List during all eight semesters at Thiel.
