THIEL COLLEGE CELEBRATES RECORD YEAR IN FUNDRAISING Aug. 17, 2011 GREENVILLE, PA—Today, Thiel College announced that it achieved several milestones in institutional fundraising, including a record year for The Thiel Fund. During the 2010-11 fiscal year ending June 30, 2011, more than $1 million was contributed to The Thiel Fund, which provides the second largest portion of unrestricted revenue, after direct student billing, to the school’s operating budget. This landmark amount represents a seven percent increase over the previous fiscal year and is a new high for the college. In addition, total voluntary support reached more than $5 million, which includes special projects, scholarships, endowment, grants and more, according to Vice President for College Advancement David Grober. Thiel’s 3,954 individual and organization donors grew by more than 500 over the previous year. “Across the board, our fundraising efforts in 2010-2011 were up from the previous year. This clearly demonstrates the value that our alumni and friends place on Thiel College and its educational mission, especially in light of continuing economic difficulties and increasing requests for support from a wide range of organizations,” said Dr. Troy D. VanAken, Thiel College president. “We are immensely grateful to our supporters for helping to provide a life-changing educational experience for our current and future students.” About Thiel College Thiel College is a liberal arts, sciences and professional studies institution located in Greenville, Pa., that provides a great balance of academic challenge, personal and social involvement, and exceptional value to its 1,100 students.
