AREA RESIDENTS INVITED TO COMMUNITY DAY AT THIEL COLLEGE

GREENVILLE, PA – Members of the Greenville and Mercer County communities are invited to attend Community Day at Thiel College on Saturday, Oct. 16.

A celebration of the local community, Community Day at Thiel will feature free admission to the Thiel Tomcats versus Bethany Bison football game and a $5 tailgate lunch beginning at 12:30 p.m. The day also will feature the dedication of the new Anderson Plaza at Alumni Stadium at 1 p.m. with recognition of the Anderson family as Game Day honorees during half-time. The undefeated 2005 Thiel Tomcats also will be honored during half-time. Game kick-off is at 1:30 p.m.

“It’s been a tough couple of years in the local community and we at Thiel College felt that it was time to celebrate what a wonderful place Greenville and Mercer County are to live, work, learn and play,” said Dr. Troy VanAken, president of Thiel College. “We are honored to throw open our doors to the community for a day of fun and at the same time honor the Anderson family, who have made such an impact on Thiel and the local community.”

The college also will be collecting free-will offerings to the United Way of Mercer County at the gates of the Stadium in lieu of admission fees. The first 1,000 people to donate at least $3 to the United Way will receive a free Live United t-shirt.

“I encourage everyone to attend the Community Day football game at Thiel College,” said Jim Micsky, executive director of the United Way of Mercer County. “What a great opportunity to show your community pride.”
