GREENVILLE, PA –On Sunday, March 21, 12 students were inducted into the Alpha Iota Kappa chapter of Sigma Tau Delta, the international English honorary society, at Thiel College during a special ceremony in the Sawhill-Georgian Room of the Howard Miller Student Center.

The newly inducted students include junior Angela Blackburn of North East, Pa.; sophomore Abigail Charsar of Sharpsville, Pa.; junior Daniel J. Martino of Brookfield, Ohio; sophomore Amy Matchett of Bulger, Pa.; junior Shawna McIntyre of Jackson Center, Pa.; sophomore Kristen Moreland of Dover, Ohio; senior Rachel Nicholson of Pittsburgh; sophomore Melissa Sincek of Canonsburg, Pa.; junior Khrystina Slagle of Sandy Lake, Pa.; junior Laura Kaye Stemm of Conneaut, Ohio; sophomore Beth Yurky of Homer City, Pa.; and Emily Zoller of Rochester, N.Y.

Officers for 2010-2011 also were chosen and are Stephanie Flask, president, of Warren, Ohio; Alivia Lapcevich, vice president, of Masury, Ohio; Khrystina Slagle, secretary; Beth Yurky, treasurer; and Amy Matchett, student government representative.

Professor David Miller, professor and chair of the Business Administration Department at Thiel College, served as the keynote speaker. Dr. Mary Theresa Hall, of the Thiel College English Department, has served as the group’s adviser since its formation in 2000.

Current students in Sigma Tau Delta are Katie Bartholomew of Sharpsville, Pa.; Stephanie Flask; Sheila Gross of Sharpsville, Pa.; Matthew Hadden of Franklin, Pa.; Alivia Lapcevich; Andrew Miller of Sharpsville, Pa.; Tanya Morris of Greenville, Pa.; and Abagale Steidl of Bethel Park, Pa.
