GREENVILLE, PA—The Thiel Choir is hitting the road for its annual spring tour this month.
Each year, under the direction of Dr. Michael Bray, director of choral activities, and accompanied by pianist Kathryn A. Gray, the 44-voice student choir performs a largely a cappella program in Lutheran churches throughout the eastern United States. Every four years, the choir travels for an international tour.
This year, the choir will perform works by Giovanni Palestrina, William Byrd, Hans Leo Hassler, Paul Tschesnokoff, and Lutheran composers Robert Wetzler ’54 and F. Melius Christiansen as well as arrangements of spirituals, folk songs and hymns. Percussionists are featured on “Sifuni Mungu” and “Ah, el novio no quere dinero!,” a Mediterranean wedding celebration.
