. THIEL CHOIR TO HOLD “HOME” CONCERT FRIDAY, MARCH 12 Feb. 12 , 2010 . GREENVILLE, PA –The Thiel Choir will present its home concert at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 12 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Penn and Clinton streets, Greenville, concluding the choir’s 57th annual spring tour. While on tour, the 44-voice choir, under the direction of Dr. Michael Bray, performed at Lutheran churches in Pennsylvania, Florida, North and South Carolina, Georgia, Virginia and Maryland. The concert will feature works by Giovanni Palestrina, William Byrd, Hans Leo Hassler, Paul Tschesnokoff, and Lutheran composers Robert Wetzler ’54 and F. Melius Christiansen as well as arrangements of spirituals, folk songs and hymns. Percussionists are featured on “Sifuni Mungu” and “Ah, el novio no quere dinero!,” a Mediterranean wedding celebration. The choir performs annually for audiences predominantly in the eastern United States and tours internationally every four years. The local event is free and open to the public.
