THIEL COLLEGE ANNOUNCES 2009 HOMECOMING SCHEDULE

GREENVILLE, Pa. – Thiel College invites all alumni, students, staff and friends of the college to share in the annual Homecoming 2009 celebration from Oct. 2 to 4.

The schedule of events for the weekend is as follows (events marked with an asterisk require reservations):

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 2

 

8:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.     

Alumni Registration—Friends of Art Gallery, HMSC
Alumni are invited to sign in and see who else is on campus. Alumni may also enter their business cards in a drawing to win prizes! Names will be drawn and awarded during the football game on Saturday.  

8:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.     

College Bookstore open—Howard Miller Student Center  

10 a.m.     

Blue-Gold Golf Scramble Registration* (registration required)—Greens of Greenville

11 a.m.     

Scramble Shotgun start

 $80 per person/$320 per foursome—includes golf, cart, lunch and prizes  

1 – 3 p.m.     

Thiel Archives open—Second floor, Langenheim Memorial Library

Check out Library’s new TOMCAT system and browse historic Thiel information.

2 – 4 p.m.     

Wine Tasting Open House*—Keifer Building, St. Paul’s   
Hosted by Thiel alumni and faculty who reside at St. Paul’s. Sample various wines while enjoying the company of fellow alumni; $5 per person

2:30 – 4:30 p.m.

Class of 1959 Reunion Reception*—Carini Restaurant, Greenville    

4 p.m.     

Post-Golf Scramble Reception*—Greens of Greenville

$10 per person for those not participating in the golf scramble.

 

5 p.m.     

Class of 1959 50th Anniversary Dinner*—Sawhill-Georgian Room, HMSC

Members of the class of 1959 celebrate their 50th reunion; $15 per person  

5 – 6 p.m.     

Greek Life Alumni Cook-out*—West Campus pavilion     
$5 per person ($3 for children)  

6:30 p.m.     

Alumni Awards Ceremony and Reception*—Lutheran Heritage Room, HMSC     
Hors d’oeuvres and dessert; Class of 1959 recognition and class gift presentation. The following awards will be presented: Service to Thiel, Distinguished Alumni and Young Alumni.

7:30 p.m.     

Homecoming Bonfire & Pig Roast—The Quad     
Announcement of Homecoming King and Queen  

8 p.m.     

Friends of Music Concert—Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Greenville
Featuring Babik, a Gypsy Jazz group  

9 p.m.     

Fireworks by Zambelli Fireworks Internationale—Alumni Stadium at Stoeber Field

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 3 

9 a.m. – noon

Tomcat Volleyball vs. Chatham—Beeghly Gymnasium

Tomcats will collect donations for breast cancer awareness during matches.

11a.m. – 1 p.m.

Tailgate—Alumni Stadium at Stoeber Field

Tailgate: $5 per person; Please note that class photos, years ending in 4 & 9, will be taken on the steps of the gymnasium beginning at 11 a.m.

Homecoming Parade—Riverside Park

1:30 p.m.     

Homecoming Football Game Kickoff—Alumni Stadium at Stoeber Field
Thiel Tomcats vs. Westminster Titans. Halftime: Presentation of the 1959 and 1984 football teams, the Homecoming Court and alumni prize drawings.   

4 – 6 p.m.

 21st Annual Thiel Players Alumni Reunion—Home of Dr. Bill Robinson, #1 Hollywood Blvd., Greenville

Join Dr. Robinson for fun, merriment and his much-loved cheese balls! 

4 – 7 p.m.    

Post-Game Celebration—Greens of Greenville

6:30 p.m.

Alumni Dinner Party*—The Gallery Grille at the Greens of Greenville     
Enjoy an evening of reuniting with classmates and friends. Class years ending in fours and nines celebrate special reunions this year, but all are welcome and encouraged to attend.  

9 p.m. – Midnight

Homecoming Dance for Students & Alumni—Lutheran Heritage Room, HMSC

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 4
