249 Students Graduate from Thiel College

GREENVILLE, Pa—On May 3, 249 students earned degrees at Thiel College’s 135th Commencement ceremony. Graduates are listed below, separated by state and county. Graduates from foreign countries are listed at the end.

PENNSYLVANIA

Allegheny County

Russell Matthew Brown graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and psychology. He is the son of Russell and Tina Brown of McKeesport, Pa., and a member of Thiel’s political science, psychology, theatre and sophomore honoraries; Men’s Leadership, Thiel Leadership Development Institute, Thiel Players and Student Government Association. Brown also was president of the Class of 2009 and received departmental honors in political science.

Vincent David Bruno received a Bachelor of Arts degree in applied physics and binary engineering. He is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Vincent P. Bruno of Brentwood, Pa.

 

Zachary David Bryte graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and religion. The son of the Rev. & Mrs. Scott A. Bryte of McCandless, Pa., Bryte also received departmental honors in religion, and was a member of Thiel’s Honor Program.

Clarissa Ann Dellert received a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology. She is the daughter of Patricia Ann Dellert of McCandless, Pa.

 

Anne Emily Fowler graduated cum laude with a degree in fine art. She is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Walter B. Fowler of Allison Park, Pa.

 

Jaclyn Marie Germeyer received a Bachelor of Arts degree in elementary education. The daughter of Thomas and Patricia Germeyer of Greentree, Pa., she is a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority and the senior honor society.

Maggie Anne Giel graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication studies and media communication. The daughter of James Jr. and Sharyl Giel of Glenshaw, Pa., she is a member of Sigma Kappa sorority and several honorary societies. Giel also was senior class secretary and received departmental honors in communication.

Heather Jane Gratzmiller graduated summa cum laude with a degree in elementary education. The daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Keith Gratzmiller of Monroeville, Pa., she was named one of four valedictorians, received departmental honors in education and was a member of Thiel’s Honors Program.

Ellen Sarah Greis graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree and departmental honors in English. She is a member of Chi Omega sorority and the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Frank X. Greis of South Park, Pa.

 

Scott Thomas Greis received a Bachelor of Arts degree in computer science. He is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Frank X. Greis of South Park, Pa.

Jaclyn Mary Headrick received a Bachelor of Arts degree in history. She is the daughter of David and Paula Headrick of McKees Rocks, Pa.

Ryan Andrew Jordan received a Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration. He is the son of Mr. & Mrs. John W. Jordan of Gibsonia, Pa.

Matthew James Joy received a Bachelor of Arts degree in media communication. He is the son of Terri L. Joy of Coraopolis, Pa.

Joseph C. Kramer received a Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration. He is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Thomas L. Renda of Verona, Pa.

William Michael Mills received a Bachelor of Arts degree in history. He is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Eric G. Johnson of Coraopolis, Pa.

 

Cameron Michael Mitchell, the son of Paul and Liz Mitchell of Shaler, Pa., received a Bachelor of Arts degree in media communication. Mitchell was a member of the track & field team for four years, including one as captain, and the senior class gift committee.

Kirk Daniel Mullen graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English writing and communication studies. He received departmental honors in communication and English as well as the Dean’s Key, which is awarded to those on the Dean’s List for eight semesters. A member of the Thiel Honors Program and the senior class gift committee, Mullen is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Daniel B. Mullen of Bridgeville, Pa.

Nancy Hope Nunnally graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree and departmental honors in accounting and business administration. A member of the senior class gift committee, she is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Thomas M. Nunnally of Forest Hills, Pa.

Randi Lynn Popp received a Bachelor of Arts degree in art. She is a member of Thiel World Organization, Women’s Leadership and the Art Club. Popp is the daughter of Paul and Carol Popp of Brookline, Pa.

Jesse Michael Proie received a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology. He is the son of Joseph W. Proie III of Castle Shannon, Pa.

Thomas Michael Rothbauer graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree and departmental honors in accounting and business administration. He is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Michael Rothbauer of McKeesport, Pa.

Allyson Lynn Russell graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree and departmental honors  in English literature and English writing. A member of the senior class gift committee, she is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Bernard A. Russell of Garfield, Pa.

Heather Michelle Sanders graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree and departmental honors in criminal justice studies and sociology. She is a member of Chi Omega sorority, the Pre-Law Society and the Thiel Activities Board. Sanders is the daughter of Douglas and Heidi Heinz of Greentree, Pa.

Phillip Randle Scott received a Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration. He is the son of Andrea Napier of Penn Hills, Pa.

Catherine Ann Sieber received a Bachelor of Arts degree in business communication. The daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Michael W. Sieber of Glenshaw, Pa., she also received departmental honors in communication.

Matthew Scott Stumpf received a Bachelor of Arts degree in accounting and business administration. He is the son of Mr. & Mrs. David B. Stumpf of McKees Rocks, Pa.

Mark J. Thompson received a Bachelor of Arts degree in mathematics. He is the son of Valerie S. Thompson of Bethel Park, Pa. He is a candidate for Pennsylvania Department of Education teacher certification.

Ross Allen Watson Jr. received a Bachelor of Arts degree in criminal justice studies and sociology. Watson is a member of the men’s basketball team. He is the son of Ross A. Watson Sr. and the grandson of Shirley L. Watson, both of Pittsburgh.

Katelyn Rose Weprich received a Bachelor of Science degree in communication sciences & disorders. She is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. John D. Weprich of Mt. Oliver, Pa.

 

Remington Jon Wolfgang received a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology. He is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Ray Wolfgang of Pittsburgh, Pa.

Kari Anne Zeleznick received a Bachelor of Arts degree in applied physics and binary engineering. She is the daughter of Patricia J. Zeleznick of South Park, Pa.

Cayla Rose Zukowski graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree and departmental honors in communication sciences & disorders and psychology. She is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Joseph A. Zukowski of Coraopolis, Pa.

Caitlin Elaine Rupert received a Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration and international business. She is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Tyler K. Rupert of Leechburg, Pa.

Kayla Sue Rush graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology. She is a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority; the biology, Greek and senior honoraries; and the cheerleading squad. Rush is the daughter of Barry and Kimberly Rush of Kittanning, Pa.

Timothy Robert Van Horn received a Bachelor of Arts degree in mathematics. He is a candidate for Pennsylvania Department of Education teacher certification. Van Horn is the son of Mary Jane Mousley of West Leechburg, Pa.

Jeffrey Michael Zelonka graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology. A candidate for Pennsylvania Department of Education teacher certification, he is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Mike Zelonka of North Apollo, Pa.

Beaver County

Mark Allen Brewer received a Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration. He is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Irvin E. Brewer of Beaver Falls, Pa.

 

Latiss Marie Celli received a Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration. She is the daughter of Angela Celli of Midland, Pa.

Rebecca J. Miller graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree and departmental honors in English literature. She is the daughter of Deanna K. Miller of Monaca, Pa.

Jennifer Ann Oprisu received a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology. She is a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. Oprisu is the daughter of Daniel and Sherry Oprisu of Beaver Falls, Pa.

Jennifer Lynn Wilfong graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree and departmental honors in elementary education. Wilfong was the senior orator for the ceremony and received the Dean’s Key, awarded to those on the Dean’s List for eight semesters. A member of the Thiel Honors Program, she is the daughter of Susan K. Brown-Kester of Beaver Falls, Pa.

Amanda Fay Lichtenwalner graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in fine art. She is a member of several honorary societies, Thiel Choir, Chamber Singers and Handbell Ringers. A member of the Thiel Honors Program and a recipient of the Dean’s Key, which is awarded to those on the Dean’s List for eight semesters, Lichtenwalner is the daughter of Glenn and Joann Lichtenwalner of Silverdale, Pa.

Butler County

Meagan Ashley Arndorfer received a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology and criminal justice studies. The daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth Larnino of West Sunbury, Pa., Arndorfer is a member of Chi Omega sorority.

Anika Loranne Backstrom received a Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration. The daughter of James and Susan Backstrom of Butler, Pa., she is a member of Thiel Christian Fellowship, the Lutheran Student Movement and the Student Government Association.

Katherine Ann Marie DeGeorge received a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology. She is the daughter of Thomas DeGeorge of Butler, Pa.

Lauren Marie Fleischman received a Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration and business communication. She is the daughter of Marc and Robyn Fleischman of Sarver, Pa.

Joseph W. Glasser received a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication studies. He is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. William J. Glasser of Cranberry Township, Pa.

Lee Arthur Haney Jr. received a Bachelor of Arts degree in religion. He is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Lee A. Haney Sr. of Cranberry Township, Pa.

Nathan Allen Knox received a Bachelor of Arts degree in applied physics and binary engineering. He is the son Mr. & Mrs. Kenneth J. Knox of Karns City, Pa.

Jamie Leigh Kuhn graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree and departmental honors in business administration. Kuhn was named one of four class valedictorians and received the Dean’s Key, which is awarded to those on the Dean’s List for eight semesters. The daughter of Darrell and Diane Kuhn of Cabot, Pa., she is a member of Sigma Kappa sorority and the business and accounting honorary.

 

April Jean Lahey received a Bachelor of Arts degree in environmental science. The daughter of Dave and Michelle Lahey of Butler, Pa., she is a member of the Environmental Club, Circle K, the yearbook staff and the Philosophy Club.

 

Krysta Leigh McCormick graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree and departmental honors in criminal justice studies and sociology. She is the daughter of Loyal McCormick of Butler, Pa.

Abigail Grace Ritter received a Bachelor of Arts degree in art. She is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Herbert W. Ritter of Etna, Pa.

Amanda Lynn Rodgers received a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology. She is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Dennis P. Rodgers of Fenelton, Pa.

He received departmental honors in mathematics and education and is a candidate for Pennsylvania Department of Education Teacher Certification. Kaitlyn Marie Scherer graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree and departmental honors in actuarial studies and business administration. She is a member of the sophomore, mathematics, business and national college honor societies. A recipient of the Dean’s Key, which is awarded to those on the Dean’s List for eight semesters, Scherer is the daughter of Ralph and Catherine Scherer of Valencia, Pa.

Kristen Marie Shields received a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology. She is a member of Sigma Kappa sorority and the Greek honor society. Shields is the daughter of Martin and Renea Shields of Butler, Pa.

Alan David Stevens received a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication studies. He is the son of Mr. & Mrs. David W. Stevens of Harrisville, Pa.

The daughter of Michael and Debra Farley of Linesville, Pa., Farley is senior class treasurer, and a member of Sigma Kappa sorority and the senior class gift committee.

Elyse Marie Hood received a Bachelor of Arts degree in criminal justice studies and sociology. She is the daughter of Jerry E. Hood of Conneaut Lake, Pa.

Shane Michael Kuberry received a Bachelor of Arts degree in philosophy and psychology. He is the son of Dennis Kuberry of Centerville, Pa.

Christopher G. Mihoci, of Hartstown, Pa., graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in accounting and business administration. Mihoci, who is married to Renee Mihoci, earned departmental honors in business.

Renee M. Mihoci, of Hartstown, Pa., received a Bachelor of Arts degree in business communication. She is married to Christopher Mihoci.

Matthew David Morrell graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree and departmental honors in elementary education. He is a member of the Thiel College wrestling team. Morrell is the son of Robert and Candace Morrell of Cochranton, Pa.

Margaret Elizabeth Morris graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree and departmental honors in psychology and criminal justice studies. She is a member of the psychology honor society, Psychology Club, Thiel Activities Board, Pre-Law Society and women’s soccer team. She is the daughter of William and Delma Morris of Saegertown, Pa.

Angela A. Shade received a Bachelor of Arts degree and departmental honors in criminal justice studies. She is a member of the Pre-Law Society. Shade is the daughter of Rexford and Diana Shade of Cambridge Springs, Pa.

Robert Earl Stallsmith received a Bachelor of Arts degree in media communication. He is the son of Terry E. Stallsmith of Townville, Pa.

Dan Thomas graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration. He is the son of Dan Thomas of Conneaut Lake, Pa.

James Matthew Beach, of North East, Pa., received a Bachelor of Arts degree in religion.

 

Cassandra Marie Beck, of Wattsburg, Pa., graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in mathematics and actuarial studies. The daughter of Bradley and Elizabeth Beck, she is a member of the mathematics and English honor societies and the Thiel Honors Program.

Kasey Brandon Dolan received a Bachelor of Arts degree in applied physics and binary engineering. He is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Kerry J. Dolan of Erie, Pa.

Adam Richard Evans graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry. The son of Mr. & Mrs. Richard L. Evans of North East, Pa., he received the Dean’s Key, awarded to those on the Dean’s List for eight semesters, and departmental honors in chemistry and American Chemical Society certification.

Emily Nicole Fecek received a Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration. She is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. John R. Fecek of Erie, Pa.

Jared B. Johnson received a Bachelor of Arts degree in media communication. He is the son of Crystal L. Johnson of Erie, Pa.

Jennifer Ann Keopka received a Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration. She is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Daniel G. Keopka of Erie, Pa.

Craig Michael Lewis received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English writing and psychology. He is the son of Denise M. Stuck-Lewis of Edinboro, Pa.

Daniel Francis May, of Erie, Pa., received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and religion. The son of Narice and the late Phil May, he is a member of the English and religion honor societies, English Club and Lutheran Student Movement. He also received departmental honors in religion.

Matthew Nicholas McKinney received a Bachelor of Arts degree in elementary education. He is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Glenn A. McKinney of Union City, Pa.

Courtney Elizabeth Miles graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in business administration. The daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Michael A. Miles of Erie, Pa., she received the Dean’s Key, awarded to those on the Dean’s List for eight semesters, and departmental honors.

Casie Lynn Morettini received a Bachelor of Arts degree in criminal justice studies. She is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. John J. Morettini of Erie, Pa.

Fritz Allen Randolph received a Bachelor of Arts degree in history. The son of Mr. & Mrs. Benny A. Randolph of Erie, Pa., he also received departmental honors in education and served on the senior class gift committee.

William Neal Ringer graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree and departmental honors in religion. He is the son of William H. Ringer of North East, Pa.

Shannon Noel Rotunda received a Bachelor of Arts degree in elementary education. She is the daughter of Debra L. Spaeder of Erie, Pa.

 

Nicholas Ray Steadman graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree and departmental honors in business communication. The son of Jerry and Wanda Steadman of Corry, Pa., he is a member of the Delta Sigma Phi fraternity, the communication and commerce honoraries, and the Student Government Association Media Board.

Kyle Alan Woods received a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology.  He is the son of Michael and Karen Woods of Union City, Pa., and a member of the cross country and indoor/outdoor track & field teams, Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity and Interfraternity Council.

Delikli Elliott Wreh-Wilson received a Bachelor of Arts degree in management information systems. He is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Delikli Wreh-Wilson of Edinboro, Pa.

Forest County

Christopher Todd Boyer graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree and departmental honors in political science. He is a member of the political science honor society, Circle K and the Student Government Association; editor of the yearbook; and president of Habitat for Humanity. He is the son of Todd and Robin Boyer of Clarington, Pa.

Sarah E. Barch received a Bachelor of Arts degree in international business and business administration. The daughter of Timothy and Debra Barch of Brookville, Pa., Barch is a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority and Thiel World Organization, and received departmental honors in religion.

Bradley Eugene Brocious graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in biology. He received departmental honors in biology and the Dean’s Key, which is awarded to those who are on the Dean’s List every semester. Brocious is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Ernest E. Brocious of Brookville, Pa., and was a member of the Thiel Honors Program.

Jena M. Cook graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree and departmental honors in elementary education. The daughter of Richard and Pamela Cook of Brookville, Pa., she is a member of the women’s golf team, women’s basketball, TC Helping Hands, the Newman Society and the education honor society.

Danielle M. Kaizer graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree and departmental honors in business administration and international business. The daughter of Thomas Kaizer of Big Run, Pa., and Lori Kaizer of Reynolds, Pa., Kaizer is a member of Sigma Kappa sorority, the dance team and several academic honor societies.

Mary Beth Hornberger, the daughter of Jeff and Marilyn Hornberger of Elizabethtown, Pa., graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology. She received departmental honors in business and sociology and is a member of English Club and Safe Zone/Rainbow Alliance.

Daniel Thomas Colangelo received a Bachelor of Arts degree in business communication as well as communication departmental honors, as well as accounting and business administration departmental honors. Vice president of the senior class, Colangelo is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Thomas Colangelo of New Castle, Pa.

Matthew Robert Duron received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English literature and English writing. He is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Robert Duron of New Castle, Pa.

Robert Michael Emes received a Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration. He is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Robert H. Emes of New Castle, Pa.

Samuel George Barton received a Bachelor of Arts degree in elementary education. The son of Mr. & Mrs. Edward J. Barton of Sharon, Pa., Barton graduated magna cum laude with departmental honors in education.

Anna Nakashima, of Toyohashi, received a Bachelor of Arts degree in mathematics.

Yuta Saito, of Saitama, received a Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration.

Riki Sakai, of Kanagawa, received an Associate of Arts degree in liberal studies.

Yuki Tsuchiya, of Yamanashi, received a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication.

NEPAL

Punit Upadhyaya, of Kathmandu, graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in applied physics and a Bachelor of Arts degree in chemistry. He also received the Dean's Key, which is given to those on the Dean's List for eight semesters, and departmental honors in chemistry.

SRI LANKA

Umanga Madara Perera graduated cum laude with an Associate of Arts degree in management information systems and a Bachelor of Arts degree in accounting and business administration. He also received departmental honors in business administration and accounting.

VIRGIN ISLANDS

St. Thomas County

Keebo Jamas Dowe, of St. Thomas, the Virgin Islands, received a Bachelor of Arts in criminal justice and sociology. A member of the Thiel basketball team, he is the son of James Dowe and Diane Spiver-Dowe.
