THIEL COLLEGE NAMES DEAN OF ENROLLMENT June 26, 2009
Becher currently serves as the executive director of enrollment services at Concordia University in Ann Arbor, Michigan. There she is responsible for overseeing the undergraduate and graduate admissions offices. She also served as director of Concordia’s Lifelong Learning Program, a program which she created and developed at the University’s request. “I am thrilled that Amy will be joining the leadership team at Thiel College,” says Dr. Troy D. VanAken, Thiel College president-elect. “Her many years in higher education have given her the perfect mix of skills to make an immediate and positive impact on our enrollment efforts.” Becher has extensive experience in higher education admissions, including prior positions as assistant director of student and academic services at the Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy in Ann Arbor, director of admission at Concordia College in Bronxville, N.Y., director of admission at the Hartt School of Music, Dance and Theatre in Hartford, Conn., and director of admission at the School of Music at the University of Louisville in Kentucky. Becher holds a master’s degree in organizational leadership and administration from Concordia University and a bachelor’s degree in music therapy from the University of Minnesota. She is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the National Association of College Admission Counselors and NAFSA: Association of International Educators. As the dean of enrollment, Becher will head Thiel’s enrollment efforts, including daily operations of the Office of Admissions. She also will provide leadership for college marketing initiatives as well as international and diversity recruitment. “Thiel College has a dedicated alumni, faculty, staff and student community that is engaged and ready to work together.
