GREENVILLE, PA –On Sunday, Feb. 22, five students were inducted into the Alpha Iota Kappa chapter of Sigma Tau Delta, the international English honorary society, at Thiel College during a special ceremony in the Sawhill-Georgian Room of the Howard Miller Student Center.

The newly inducted students include sophomore Stephanie Flask of Warren, Ohio, sophomore Matthew Hadden of Franklin, Pa., sophomore Alivia Lapcevich of Masury, Ohio, senior Courtney Miles of Erie, Pa., and junior Tanya Morris of Greenville. Officers for 2009-2010 also were chosen and are Sheila Gross, president, of Sharpsville, Pa.; Flask, vice president; Lapcevich, secretary; and Abagale Steidl, treasurer, of Bethel Park, Pa.

This year marks the 85th anniversary of the founding of Sigma Tau Delta and the 10th anniversary of the founding of Thiel’s chapter. Dr. Mary Theresa Hall, professor of English and chair of the department, has served as the adviser since its installation.

Current students in Sigma Tau Delta are Katie Bartholomew of Sharpsville, Pa., Cassandra Beck of Wattsburg, Pa., William Gallagher of Dubois, Pa., Ellen Greis of South Park, Pa., Sheila Gross of Sharpsville, Pa., Craig Lewis of McKean, Pa., Daniel May of Erie, Pa., Andrew Miller of Sharpsville, Pa., Rebecca Miller of Monaca, Pa., Kirk Muller of Bridgeville, Pa., Miranda Ortz of Emlenton, Pa., Allyson Russell of Pittsburgh, and Abagale Steidl of Bethel Park, Pa.
