A GIFT THAT WILL KEEP ON GIVING Dec. 16, 2009
GREENVILLE, PA – On Tuesday, Dec. 15, Dr. Troy VanAken, Thiel College president, surprised Dr. Joyce Cuff, professor of biology, with notification of a $25,000 gift from Thiel alumnus Dr. Carl A. Hoffman Jr. ’69, president and CEO of Harrisburg-based Primecare Medical Inc. The donation will help underwrite Cuff’s year-long sabbatical trip to East Africa beginning in summer 2010. Cuff will work with health clinics serving rural communities whose primary health challenges include management of malaria, HIV-AIDS and water-borne diseases.
