GREENVILLE, Pa. – Two Thiel College students and a professor will present Congressman Phil English with an ACE Award on behalf of the Linda Creed Breast Cancer Foundation on Monday, October 6 at 2 p.m. in the Sawhill-Georgian Room of the Howard Miller Student Center.
Seniors Danielle Reger and Heidi Snyder will first present their experiences at the National Breast Cancer Coalition Conference in Washington, D.C. in May 2008. During that conference, the two elementary education majors met with English’s legislative aide while visiting senators and representatives from Pennsylvania on Capitol Hill. English has met with Thiel students in his D.C. office during prior trips to the annual conference.
Professor Connie Reinhart, director of teacher education, a breast cancer survivor and long-time breast cancer research advocate, along with Reger and Snyder will present English with a framed certificate from the Linda Creed Breast Cancer Foundation. This Philadelphia-based foundation is on the board of the National Breast Cancer Coalition. The ACE Award, which stands for “Action, Commitment and Efforts,” is presented to legislators in Pennsylvania who support the fight against breast cancer.
Following the presentation, English will address the attendees as well as field questions from students and community members.
The event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Connie Reinhart at 724-589-2065 or creinhart@thiel.edu.
