GREENVILLE, Pa. — Today, to commemorate Veteran’s Day, Thiel College and the Hempfield Township and Greenville Borough police departments raised a U.S. flag, which was originally flown in Iraq, over Thiel’s campus in honor of the brave men and women of the U.S. Armed Services. The flag, which was given to the college by William Thiel Jr., was displayed over one of Saddam Hussein’s palaces on Veteran’s Day 2005. Presently, Lt. Tony Morris of the campus police is serving his second tour of duty in Iraq and Thiel sends him best wishes on this Veteran’s Day.
