GREENVILLE, PA—Dr. Charles Blaich, director of inquiries at the Center of Inquiry in the Liberal Arts at Wabash College in Indiana, spoke to the faculty and students of Thiel College about the importance and value of a liberal arts education on March 19.

Blaich and the Center of Inquiry is leading the Wabash National Study of Liberal Arts Education, a large-scale, longitudinal study to investigate critical factors that affect the outcomes of liberal arts education with the aim of helping colleges and universities improve student learning and enhance the educational impact of their programs. Blaich presented information about the study and its results so far during the afternoon Thiel faculty meeting and spoke with Thiel College humanities students about the practical value of a liberal arts education during the Kemper Seminar later that evening.

The Kemper Seminar is a senior-level seminar designed to assist seniors in evaluating the role that the liberal arts will play in their professional lives. His visit was sponsored by the Kemper Seminar and Thiel’s Center for Learning and Advising.
