GREENVILLE, PA – Congratulations to the 11 Thiel College students who were inducted into the Alpha Iota chapter of Sigma Tau Delta on Sunday, Feb. 17 in the Sawhill-Georgian Room of Thiel College’s Howard Miller Student Center.
The new members include sophomore Katie Bartholomew, junior Cassandra Beck, senior Kelly Donovan, sophomore Sheila Gross, junior Craig Lewis, junior Daniel May, sophomore Andrew Miller, sophomore Rebecca Miller, junior Allyson Russell and sophomore Abagale Steidl.
Along with the induction of the new members, the ceremony included a keynote speech by Dr. Jay Ward, professor of English and chair of that department. Dr. Mary Theresa Hall, professor of English, serves as the group’s advisor.
New officers for the 2008-09 academic year also were elected. They include Sheila Gross, president; junior Ellen Greis, vice president; junior Kirk Mullen, secretary; and Abagale Steidl, treasurer.
Founded in 1924, Sigma Tau Delta is the international English honor society that confers distinction upon students of the English language and literature in undergraduate, graduate and professional studies. It also recognizes the accomplishments of professional writers who have contributed to the fields of language and literature. There are more than 750 active chapters located worldwide.
