GREENVILLE, PA – Thiel College welcomed four new faculty members for the 2007-08 academic year, which began Aug. 27.
The new faculty members are:
- Jie Wu, assistant professor of mathematics. He holds a bachelor’s degree in applied mathematics from Central South University of Technology and a master’s degree in economics from Zhejiang University, both in China. He also holds a master’s degree and doctorate in mathematics from Louisiana State University. He most recently served as a teaching assistant at LSU. Wu is a native of Hunan, China.
- Victor Evans, assistant professor of communication arts. He holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Northwestern University, a master’s degree in dramatic writing and media from New York University, and a doctorate in communication and media studies from Union Institute and University. He has worked with many media companies, including CNN Headline News, BET Holdings Inc., MTV Networks and Entertainment Weekly, among others. Evans also worked for several University of Phoenix campuses, including most recently as the campus chair for the College of Arts and Sciences at the Seattle, Wash., campus.
- W. Bryan Wilent, assistant professor of neuroscience. He holds a bachelor’s degree in general biology from Millersville University and a doctorate in neuroscience from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He was a postdoctoral fellow at the Neurosciences Institute in San Diego, Calif., and a behavioral pharmacology scientists at Cocensys in Irvine, Calif. He also served as a research technician at Hahnemann University and as a research fellow at Penn State Medical Center.
- Daniel Eppley, associate professor of religion. He holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Gustavus Adolphus College, a master’s in inorganic chemistry from Cornell University, and a doctorate in the history of religion in the West from the University of Iowa. He has been an assistant and associate professor of religion at McMurry University and worked as a pharmaceutical chemist for SmithKline Beecham Pharmaceuticals.
Other new adjunct faculty include Pamela Achenbach, English; Barbara Carothers, mathematics; Courtney Kronk-Love, mathematics; Bryan Wagoner, religion; Philip Callaghan, communications; Walter Dunlavey, communications; David Frew, education; Keith Hallas, music; and Michael Walton, business administration.
