Strausbaugh

Dr. M. Roy Strausbaugh of Erie, Pa., was named chair of the Thiel College Board of Trustees during the board’s semi-annual meeting on Friday, May 4.

Strausbaugh, who previously served as vice chair, was appointed to the board through the Northwestern Pennsylvania Synod of the ELCA in 2000.

He currently serves as visiting professor of history, chair of history, and associate dean of social sciences at Mercyhurst College.

Additionally, David R. Andrews ’63 of Washington, Pa., was named vice chair, and Joseph Scarpitti ’80 of Westlake, Ohio, was selected as treasurer. Andrews is president of Washington Tool & Machine Co., Inc., while Scarpitti is senior vice president for American Funds, Capital Group Companies in Los Angeles.

The board bid farewell to outgoing members Ronald Anderson of Indiana, Pa., James D. Bittel ’60 of Greenville, Irma Goertzen H’00 of Seattle, Frederick Haer ’65 of Bowdoinham, Maine, Edward Redman ’60 of Morganton, N.C., and Jeffrey A. Wallace of Greenville.
