GREENVILLE, PA – Thiel College’s student radio has moved beyond the airwaves and is now available online.
WebCat Radio, http://www.thiel.edu/webcat, launched Jan. 19, replaces the college’s traditional over-the-airwaves radio broadcast and features a 24-hour format.
Thiel seniors Corey Russell of Euclid, Ohio, and Kellen Manning of Cranberry Township, Pa., spearheaded the move to change the format of the student radio station.
“The decision to go online was an easy one to make,” said Russell, the station’s program manager. “We had a weak signal that didn’t reach much further beyond campus. By going to a web-based broadcast, we are able to hit a much broader base. We can reach our families, friends and alumni located all over the world.”
WebCat Radio programming will be much similar to its WTGP predecessor, featuring a variety of genres such as talk, rock, rap and pop.
The former station, WTGP 88.1, has been phased out.
