homecoming schedule for oct. 6, 7, 8

GREENVILLE, Pa. - Alumni, students, staff and friends at Thiel College will celebrate this year’s homecoming scheduled for Oct. 6, 7 and 8.

The schedule of events for the weekend is as follows:

FRIDAY, OCT. 6

 

8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Alumni Registration – Friends of Art Gallery, Howard Miller Student Center (HMSC). Sign in here and find out which of your classmates are on campus. Alumni may enter their business cards in a drawing to win prizes.

10 a.m. – Honor Circle Brunch, Sawhill-Georgian Room, HMSC. Reservations required.

11 a.m. – Blue-Gold Golf Scramble at the Greenville Country Club. Reservations required.

11 a.m. to 1 p.m. – Alumni Career Fair, Rotunda Area, HMSC. Students have the opportunity to network with successful alumni.

1:15 to 3:30 p.m. – Lance Cooks! Howard Miller Student Center (HMSC) Dining Hall. Thiel President Dr. Lance A. Masters shares his culinary skills. Cost $15.00 (includes a kitchen gift, a “Masters” certificate and copies of all recipes prepared.) Reservations required.

2:30 p.m. – Professor David Miller ’61, professor of economics and business administration and Norman P. Mortensen Chair of Economics, offers presentation to members of Class of 1956, Sawhill-Georgian Room, Howard Miller Student Center.

3:30 to 5 p.m. – Thiel Touches the World, Langenheim Memorial Library. Alumni can reunite with their favorite Thiel College professors and discuss their achievements in music, theater and publications.

6 p.m. – Class of 1956 reception and dinner, Mark Twain Manor, Jamestown. Reservations required.

6:30 p.m. – Alumni Awards Ceremony and Dessert Reception, Sawhill-Georgian Room, HMSC. This year's honorees include Distinguished Alumni Edward Bartko ’72, Lewis P. Carbone ’71 and Michael Zawoysky ’79; Service to Thiel Award, Kenneth ’57 and Joyce Bash, Barry ’74 & Linda (Dean) ’75 Oman; and Young Alumnus Award, Jocelyn (Brown) Cilik ’00. Reservations are required.

 

SATURDAY, OCT. 7

9 a.m. to Noon. – Alumni Registration. Friends of Art Gallery, HMSC.

9 a.m. – Thiel Choir Alumni Breakfast. The Rae Johnson ’59 Home, 206 Lynwood Drive, Greenville.

9 a.m. – Dedication of the James E. Meyer ’43 Economics Office, Academic Center Room 42.

9:30 a.m. – Class of 2005 gift dedication, first floor Roth Hall.

9 to 11 a.m. – Campus Tours of the Chemistry Area (S-101 and 102), the Glen Johnson Community Center, the site of the David Johnson Memorial Chapel, and a Smart Classroom (AC-34).

10 a.m. – 1956 and 1981 Football Team Breakfast. The Dining Place, HMSC. Reservations required.

10:30 to 11 a.m. – Annual Alumni Association Meeting. Greenville Hall, Room 101. Come and see what your alumni association does for you and for Thiel!

11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. – Thiel tailgate party at Alumni Stadium. Wear your blue and gold and come to a pre-game tailgate party.  No charge, but food and cash donations are welcome.

Noon – Thiel College annual Homecoming parade.

1:30 p.m. – Homecoming Football Game: Thiel Tomcats vs. Washington & Jefferson, Alumni Stadium. Halftime: presentation of 1956 and 1981 football teams, Homecoming Court, alumni prize drawings.

4 to 6 p.m. –- Post-Game Celebration. Grille Room, Greenville Country Club. Cash Bar.

4 to 7 p.m. – 18th Annual Thiel Players Alumni Reunion. Dr. William Robinson’s Residence. 104 Hollywood Boulevard, Townhouse #1, Greenville.

6 p.m. – Reunion Dinner and Dance. Greenville Country Club.  Fine food, great music and photos for class years ending in ones and sixes.  Cash bar. Reservations required.

SUNDAY, OCT. 8

10 to 11:15 a.m. – Farewell Brunch. Rotunda Area, HMSC. No reservations required.

11 a.m. – Homecoming  Eucharist and Service of Remembrance, David Johnson Memorial Chapel.  Morning worship and Service of Remembrance which includes a reading of those alumni who have passed away since last homecoming.
