Board of Trustees grants promotions, tenure

GREENVILLE,
PA – The Thiel College Board of Trustees promoted three faculty
members and granted tenure to two at the semi-annual board meeting on
Saturday, May 6.
Promoted to full professor was Dr. Kathryn Frantz, chemistry.
Robert Badowski, business administration and accounting, and Dr. James
Koshan, history, were promoted to the rank of associate professor.
Jesse Amar and Sean McConnor, both art, were awarded tenure.
Dr. James Bloomfield, retiring professor of
history, was recognized for his years of service to the college, while
the trustees also noted the valuable service of retiring board member
and vice chair of the board Frederic McCullough ’65.
Action items approved at the May 6 board meeting included:
• a proposed budget of $25,077,699 for the academic year; • the
granting of degrees at commencement on May 7 to students meeting requirements; • curriculum
be developed for bachelor of science and associate of science degrees • the
addition of an essay requirement to the admissions application
process.
The next full meeting of the board is scheduled
for Friday, Oct. 20 on Thiel’s campus.
Thiel College is a liberal arts, sciences, and professional
studies college related to the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
