Touring Thiel
Choir will perform locally on March 17

GREENVILLE, PA – The
Thiel Choir will present its home concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March
17 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Penn and Clinton streets, Greenville,
Pa., as part of the choir’s
53rd annual spring tour March 3-11, 2006
While on tour, the 45-voice choir will perform in Erie, Pa., Rochester,
N.Y., Glenville, N.Y., Exton, Pa., Reading, Pa., Carlisle, Pa., and
Latrobe, Pa.
The Thiel Choir, under the direction of Dr. Michael Bray, will perform
works by former Thiel professor Paul Weber, South American composers
Cesar Carrillo, Ernani Aguiar and Javier Busto, English composers William
Byrd, Herbert Howells and Gerald Finzi as well as a collection of spirituals,
folk songs and hymns.
In his tenth year as director of choral activities, Bray conducts the
Thiel Choir and Chamber Singers, Thiel College Handbell Ringers, teaches
private instruction in voice, music theory, music history and conducting.
The choir performs annually for audiences predominantly in the eastern
United States and tours internationally every four years.
The local event is free and open to the public. A freewill offering
