GREENVILLE, PA – Thiel College officials are pleased to announce that Warren, Ohio-based AVI Food Systems, Inc., has been named the new food service provider on campus.
“We worked very hard to secure proposals from several vendors, to meet with their representatives, visit campuses to get a first-hand look at the food service operations, to compare proposals, and to make a recommendation,” said Dr. Lance A. Masters, Thiel College president and CEO. “I am very pleased with the decision and happy to learn that AVI comes very highly recommended. I look forward partnering with AVI and to see that they continue the same high quality of service and food that Thiel students, faculty, staff, trustees and visitors have come to expect when they dine on campus.”
AVI is the food service provider at other higher education institutions such as Mount Union College, Slippery Rock, Kutztown, Wayne State, Kenyon College, and University of Toledo.
Masters said he is confident AVI will be well received by the students when they return to campus in late August.
AVI will continue the same high quality of service, but will be able to offer more variety to dining and catering customers, Masters said. The transition should be seamless, Masters said, and all current Thiel Food Service employees were asked to stay on under AVI’s management.
Founded in 1960, AVI has rapidly become the largest independently owned and operated food service company in the United States. Currently employing thousands, AVI services millions of consumers daily from branches strategically located throughout its service area.
Aside from colleges and universities, AVI also services industry, corporate headquarters complexes, school systems and health care facilities throughout the Midwest and eastern United States.
