GREENVILLE, PA - The public is invited to attend
a welcome reception for Thiel College's new international students from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8 in the Sawhill-Georgian
Room of the Howard Miller Student Center.
The reception is sponsored by Community Friends, the college's host family program. Those interested in hosting
an international student are encouraged to attend.
This academic year Thiel welcomed 30 new international students from countries such as Bangladesh, China, Ghana,
Kenya, Japan, Jamaica, Nepal and Sri Lanka, said Shannon Reesh, director of international student services. Currently
the college enrolls a total of more than 60 international students.
"Community Friends was created to help our new international students learn more about American culture and
gain a new support system while they are studying at Thiel," said Reesh. "It is also an excellent opportunity
for local families to learn about many new cultures and meet many wonderful, talented and bright students."
Desserts, coffees, and teas will be served at the reception. Parking is free.
For more information about the Community Friends Program or to host an international student, please contact Reesh
at 724-589-2076 or sreesh@thiel.edu. |
