SCHOLAR AT WOMEN'S RESEARCH AND EDUCATION
INSTITUTE TO SPEAK AT THIEL

GREENVILLE, PA - Dr.
Bernice Sandler, a senior scholar at the Women's Research
and Education Institute, will be a guest lecturer at Thiel College at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25 in the Lutheran Heritage
Room of the Howard Miller Student Center.
Sandler, an expert on the subject of sexual harassment and sexual inequality in both the workplace and the classroom,
is considered the "godmother of Title IX," referring to the 1972 Educational Amendment that stated that federal
legislation prohibits educational institutions that are receiving federal funding of any sort from discriminating
against students or employees on the basis of sex.
Sandler is the author of a number of books, including The Chilly Classroom Climate: A Guide to Improve the Education
of Women and Sexual Harassment on Campus: A Guide for Administrators, Faculty, and Students.
Sandler's lecture, part of the Thiel's First-Year Perspectives Program, is free and open to the public. For more
