Press Release

JENN SCAREM, NEW BAND DIRECTOR AT THIEL COLLEGE
THIEL CONCERT BAND SEEKING COMMUNITY MUSICIANS

For immediate release August 24, 2005

Jenn Scarem
GREENVILLE, PA - If you are a musician in the regional area, Jenn Scarem and the Thiel College Concert Band are looking for you.

Just days into her new role as the band director at the college, Scarem is hitting the ground running and looking to grow the band by inviting volunteer musicians from the community to join.

"I am looking to improve instrumentation within the band," said Scarem. "A versatile instrumentation will enable us to play a wider array of music."

Scarem is seeking volunteer musicians - from high school students to adults - to participate. Participation in the concert band will not interfere with high school functions, Scarem said.

All wind instruments are welcome, particularly low brass. Percussionists are also encouraged to participate. Musicians do not need to own their own instruments.

Rehearsals will be held throughout the semester from 6 to 7 p.m. each Tuesday and Thursday in preparation for a Dec. 4 Christmas concert.

An open organizational and informational meeting will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30 in the William A. Passavant Memorial Center at Thiel College.

Scarem, originally from New York, has more than 20 years of performance experience. She earned her bachelor of music degree in music education from SUNY at Fredonia and is currently pursuing her master's degree at Youngstown State University.
