Amelia Earhart Memorial

American aviatrix Amelia Earhart was a pioneer among women as well as a pioneer in flight. Earhart's accomplishments as well as her charm and grace have earned her a place at Thiel College, which presented her an honorary Doctor of Science degree in 1932. Her father, Edwin S. Earhart was an 1886 Thiel graduate, and her grandfather, the Reverend David Earhart, was one of the organizers in the mid 1880's of the Pittsburgh Synod which sponsored the College.

In 1982, the Thiel Board of Trustees established the Amelia Earhart Award to honor women of outstanding achievement.
