"Vulnerable Public" as Subjects

Projects that will involve "vulnerable public" as their subjects require careful scrutiny. "Vulnerable public" includes:

• children (persons under age 18)
• prisoners
• pregnant women
• mentally disabled persons
• economically or educationally disadvantaged persons

If your project involves studying people in any of these categories you should submit a formal application or consult the IRB chair.

All projects involving minors must be approved by the IRB Committee beforehand.
