Grants, like scholarships, are another type of educational gift that students are not required to repay. Sources of grants include the federal government, state governments, and Thiel College. You should also explore grant and scholarship options through your guidance or transfer counselor and local church, civic or community organizations.
FEDERAL PELL GRANT
Awarded to Undergraduate Students with demonstrated financial need who are working toward a first bachelor's degree. After completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) the government will notify schools of a student's eligibility.
STATE GRANTS
- PENNSYLVANIA
- PHEAA grants are awarded to Pennsylvania residents with demonstrated financial need.
- Complete a FAFSA by May 1 to be considered. Maximum award for 2006-2007 is $4,500.
- OHIO
- Awarded to Ohio residents with demonstrated financial need. Award money may be used at educational institutions outside the state of Ohio up to a maximum of $600 per year. Students who complete a FAFSA automatically have their financial information forwarded for eligibility determination. Visit Ohio Board of Regents Website.
- OTHER STATES
- Check state grant eligibility requirements for your state and follow the appropriate guidelines.
FEDERAL SUPPLEMENTAL EDUCATIONAL OPPORUNITY GRANT (FSEOG)
Federal Aid money awarded through Thiel College to undergraduate students who demonstrate the greatest financial need. Eligibility is determined from FAFSA.
