Yu Jin K. (Junior) Seoul, South Korea Mathematics and Accounting I am a one year exchange student from Dongguk University in Seoul, Korea. For my first experience in the United States, Thiel has been very comfortable and full of welcoming individuals. I love to meet new people, and have found that people at Thiel are very kind. I have noticed that people say hello even if they don’t know me, which makes me feel welcomed. Here at Thiel, professors are always willing to help, and will take the time to make sure students understand the classroom material. I feel free to ask questions because I know the people at Thiel are willing to help. The International Student Affairs office provides international students with host families. My host family is important to me and has given me many new experiences in which I will always remember. My ESL leader makes me aware of campus activities and invites me to go with her. Some of the activities that I enjoy being involved with most at Thiel include: Grove City shopping trips, T.W.O. member, and playing the hand bells. I look forward to my experiences ahead at Thiel College.
Wei-Yu H. (Freshman) Taipei, Taiwan Fine Art I am a four year student at Thiel College. What I like most about Thiel is the quiet atmosphere. Before coming to Thiel I lived in the city, and I love that Thiel is a peaceful place where I can enjoy the fresh air of the outdoors. Thiel offers both quality education and opportunities to be involved with activities and organizations. I am the treasurer of Thiel World Organization (T.W.O) and have learned a lot about what it means to be a leader, beyond being a member of an organization. My hope is that I can help incoming international students become acquainted with Thiel. I want to be a support and resource for new international students. This is my advice to new students: enjoy your life here at Thiel. Work hard, but also take time to get involved with campus life. Thiel is a good place to stay, a calm place to think, and a positive environment. Sometimes society can be very fast paced, and Thiel allows me to slow down and enjoy the little things in day to day life. EunKyeong K. (Senior) Ulsan, South Korea Economics and Accounting Thiel has allowed me to pursue my passion for singing through joining the choir. Being involved in the choir has helped me meet other students and enjoy my love for music. I am a one year exchange student studying psychology, piano, and politics at Thiel. Thiel offers new experiences such as Greek Life. I have become a member of the Chi Omega sorority. My sisters have made me feel comfortable, and I hope to get to know American students through this new experience. The people I have met have helped me adjust to Thiel life, and I look forward to continuing to meet more people through being involved in the psychology club and habitat club here at Thiel. Rui Wang (Junior) Jinan, China International Business Thiel College has helped me learn to be a leader. I am the president of T.W.O. and have been able to use my imagination in this position, as well as develop leadership skills. This position, along with my job as a student worker, has allowed me to use my creativity and inspiration to plan events. Thiel offers a large variety of fun activities and organizations to be involved in. Some of my favorite activities at Thiel include: wings and sings, movie nights, the international food fair, shopping, and trips to NYC. I love Thiel because it has small classrooms; professors are approachable and willing to help. Faculty and staff care about the students and are willing to help with any needs. I have been successful at Thiel because of the help provided to me. Thiel provides an environment where students can succeed, grown, and learn.
